8-Seater Day Boats

This boat seats 6 adults max plus room for 2 children under 16, plus one dog

A 16 ft boat which can carry six adults, two children, and a dog. Our most stable and easy-to-drive boat. The all-electric motor makes little noise, so you can take in the sounds of the canal. These boats have raincovers. A full day hire is from 9am-4pm.

A 14 ft boat which can accommodate four adults plus two small children and a dog

This boat has an outboard electric engine with a steering wheel and forward/reverse hand throttle. The boat comes equipped with a rain cover and mooring pins and ropes. This boat seats 4 adults max plus room for 2 children under 16, plus one dog

Cycle Boat

With room for two, this boat offers a day out for the environmentally aware with the added benefit of gentle exercise. If you are looking to try something new, then this is the boat for you. A full day is 11am-5pm.

Ex-Thames Boat

This boat seats 6 adults in comfort

She is sleek and beautiful and glides through the water like no other. This all-electric former Thames launch could grace the French Riviera with her beautiful varnished decks and wheeled steering. She seats up to six but unlike our other day boats, she does not have a rain hood, so enjoy the sunshine or wrap up a little warmer on your way to a relaxing pub lunch. Umbrellas will be provided if needed. Please note there is a requirement of a £100 cash, refundable deposit, on arrival to the boat yard. Book these VIP boat and leave 1 hour before our other fleet and have a free arrival drink to help you get on your way.

Ex-Steam Boat

Seats 4 people in comfort.

This ex-steam boat is as fascinating as she is beautiful. When Alasdair first saw her, she was driven by a coal-burning boiler, but we've now converted her to eco-friendly electric-powered boat. She's a beautiful sleek boat that certainly stands out from the crowds. She will sit four comfortably with a dog, but has no rain cover, however umbrellas are provided if needed. Please note there is a requirement of a £50 cash, refundable deposit, on arrival to the boat yard. Book this VIP boat and leave 1 hour before our other fleet and have a free arrival drink to help you get on your way.

The All-Electric Cabin Cruiser

Seats 8 adults plus 2 children under 16, plus two dogs.

This is the most luxurious dayboat on the canal with an on-board toilet, cooker, cooking utensils and cutlery. This boat is our only dayboat with HEATING inside the cabin. The boat has two sofa-benches inside to rest on and escape any bad weather, as sadly to avoid damage from low bridges the canvas cover must be down whilst cruising. This boat is wheel steered while sitting on electric adjustable seats. You can cruise south only, to Gilwern for a picnic at the picnic site or a pub lunch at the Towpath Inn or The Beaufort, then turn around after the the Towpath Inn where the canal does a right angle turn and cruise back to Beacon Park Boats. She is our most elegant and graceful looking boat, with new electric drive AND a bow thruster fitted to make for easier manoeuvring. Price is £200 plus a deposit of £50, refundable upon safe, undamaged return of the boat.

Canoe

Paddle the canal in a traditional open canoe. Two people paddling with space for a child or pet between.

Paddle Boards

Try your hand at the world's fastest-growing paddle sport. Book our 10'8" board for an hour, or 7! Hire includes the board, paddle, lifejacket and leash - all ready to go as soon as you get here. Hourly hire between 10am and 5pm.

Plan Your Canal Day Trip

  • There is plenty to see and do on the beautiful Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.
  • Cruise quietly on electric power, get closer to wildlife and enjoy the spectacular views of a canal built into Welsh mountains.
  • Electric day boats have a steering wheel and a throttle and are easy to drive.
  • No experience of boats is necessary as you’ll be given clear tuition before you set off.
  • Maximum speed on the canal is 2½ miles per hour.
  • Should it rain, simply pull up the rainproof cover and you’re sitting inside.
  • We provide life jackets for everyone.
  • On board there is a boating pole for pushing off, mooring pins and a hammer for securing the boat.
  • Dogs are welcome on our boats.

If you head North, you can reach the village of Llangynidr in time for lunch. Moor up before the lock and walk over the bridge to the Coach and Horses. If you head south, you can reach the Towpath Inn at Gilwern or the Tafarn y Bont at Govilion, accessed via steep steps with a handrail.  Make sure you leave enough time to get back by 5pm when the boat must be returned.
